Sirius Software Year 2000 Product Readiness Guide
All Sirius Software products at (or newer than) the version shown on
the attached list are Year 2000 Compliant in all material respects when
used in accordance with the product documentation. Any versions of
Sirius Products that are earlier than those shown on the list either
are known not to be Year 2000 Compliant or have not been, and will not
be, tested for Year 2000 compliance.
When we say that a Sirius Software product is "Year 2000
Compliant", we mean that insofar as the Sirius Software product
processes date data, it will correctly process dates prior to, during
and after the year 2000, within the range of dates supported by the
Product, as described in the Product documentation, and the Product
will recognize the year 2000 as a leap year; provided that all other
components (such as hardware, software or firmware) used with the
Sirius product properly exchange accurate and complete date data with
the Sirius product in accordance with the documentation for the Sirius
product.
As Sirius Software products are used in conjunction with the Model
204 DBMS, it is important to note that the Model 204 DBMS does not
offer a date/time data type, nor is there any underlying storage format
in Model 204 which can automatically store date data in an unambiguous
format unless the date explicitly includes century digits. Dates stored
with the four digit year included may be processed by Model 204
applications "as is", or in some cases may be converted by
the application to a format which does not include century digits.
Dates stored without century digits may be processed "as is",
or may be converted to a format that includes century digits by the
application code. Given this flexibility, it is important that each
Model 204 customer test and , if necessary, modify its data and/or
applications to ensure that dates spanning the century boundary will be
processed correctly. Merely installing Sirius products that are Year
2000 Compliant will not cause Model 204 applications using those
products to process dates correctly or to function correctly with dates
after 1999.
Sirius Software products which can be used to pass data from Model
204 to external systems, as well as Sirius Software products designed
for testing or facilitating year 2000 compliance of Model 204 programs
or data, and the Sirius Software date $functions, provide the Model 204
programmer with either a windowing algorithm for determining the
century of a two digit year date field, or a mechanism to specify the
parameters needed by the windowing algorithm in an external system. All
other Sirius Software products do not evaluate the contents of Model
204 fields or the contents of fields which may be loaded into Model
204, and therefore will read, write, display, and otherwise process
that data "as is".
